Cookies are small files with text and numbers that are downloaded and installed on your computer, mobile phone or tablet via your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari…) or through a Flash application.

Cookies allow websites to ‘remember’ you, either during a visit or over several visits. These cookies store information about your preferences to provide you with a customised, easier and faster experience. Only the server that installed the cookies will be able to read their contents, which will also be anonymous.

Even if they are installed on to your hard drive, since they are only text or numbers, they are not capable of accessing personal information on your computer, nor of transmitting viruses; they only track the browsing on a website.
